And so it begins...

Tomorrow morning I will be leaving on my road trip to Cincinatti. I have a stop over in St. Louis. I will be meeting up with and spending the night with some online friends in both cities. Looking forward to it although, I'd say I am also a bit nervous. I know that I will get some good images and experiences out of it.

See you when I return.

Closing time...

With the ending of my 2 year MyNudeSelfProject tumblr blog I am now able to really focus on this project.

I am excited to see what happens next. Perhaps another book. Perhaps more images to sell. Either way, it is good to be here with something else to do.

Two years ago...

I stopped photographing other people because of the anxiousness I felt when it came time to present the images from a photo-shoot. It never failed, that reaction they would have, in each case, to seeing themselves captured by my lens. Disappointment may be to bit of a harsh word. Often, it was the first time they had done a nude shoot with anyone and to see themselves nude and not dolled up I think was a normal shock. It is human nature that we begin to pick apart ourselves and in a whole, pick apart the image itself.

I tend to have a realistic style when it comes to photographing someone. I am not so cruel that I do not hide the flaws that make them the most uncomfortable when asking them to move a certain way...sit here...look here...be natural...for Gods sake don't pose! I am just not interested in a pin-up style photo shoot. Never have been. I stay away from it in my self-portraits. Show me what's real. How do you feel today?

My hope is that this project will not only make for great personal images but, also to help me face my anxieties.

Maybe this time, it won't be so bad.

Wandering Eye Project

Q: What is the Wandering Eye Project?
A: Simply put, it is my newest inspired photography project that involves portrait photographs of individuals within the family unit as well as portrait photographs of the family as a whole. This is not necessarily a NUDE project as all my past projects have been. I am really very interested in the traditional and not so traditional family structures at this point. I am looking for families in the U.S. to start with. I plan to expand internationally if all goes well.

Q: Isn't this just a self indulgent way for you to be able to travel more and work less?
A: Absolutely!

Q: Who will sign up for this sort of thing?
A: Right now I have three families in mind. I have approached one member of one family. I am looking at those I have been interacting with online for some time. So, in the sense they are still very much strangers and yet I am comfortable with them. I would think that others may in fact approach me. For safety reasons I am very discerning at this point.

Q: Do you really think these people will want you and your camera in their face for a whole day...maybe even two days ... hanging out ...sleeping on their couches and eating their food?!
A: I am sure there will be plenty of "no" responses but, I'm also prepared for some "yes" responses. It's a pretty invasive project and I will encourage those involved to really think about their privacy.

Q: Seeing that you are quite the prolific and talented photographer ... I suspect that this will turn into a much larger project. Will there be a book in it's future?
A: As much money as I will be putting into the project ... realistically ... I know something will come out of it. A book is a thought.

Q: What will these people get out of this experience with you?
A: For one, I believe in the ability of photographs to show you aspects of your character ... good ... bad. I believe in the self-confidence that it breeds. Specifically, what will they get? Well, I hope to thank them for their time by providing an 8" x 10" print from my time spent in their home. I am hoping that it is an eye opening experience for all involved.

Introduction...

I have found myself creating yet another blog on yet another site. Unlike my tumblr blogs my focus here will be to outline my current photography project.

If you follow me on any other social network sites, you will know what to expect. If this is your first time meeting me via the web ... nice to meet you ... stick around.

Thanks.
